2012 TASTA Annual Conference featuring "The Advances in Modern Energy Technology"

 
The conference event will be taken at TECRO Culture Center (901 Wind River Lane, Gaithersburg, MD 20878)  on August 18 (Saturday) 2012, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
 
We have invited four high-profile speakers this time, and their talks will cover the general scopes of energy technology development/policy/current issue/future direction and will also have special discussion on the nuclear energy development, safety evaluation and alternative energy, especially after the Japan's nuclear incident last March.
 
Energy technology is one of the most important fields in modern science and technology, and is involved in our daily life and its development also affect the economics in the long-run. We believe this annual conference
 
The four speakers are:
1. Keynote speaker: Dr. Dimitri Kusnezov (Chief Scientist and Director, Office of Science and Policy, National Nuclear Security Administration, US Department of Energy).
 
2. Dr. Eric D. Wachsman (Director of UMERC and William L. Crentz Centennial Chair in Energy Research, University of Maryland at College Park), Speech Title: “Energy Issues in the 21st Century”.
 
3. Mr. William Reckley (Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission)
Speech Title: “Lessons Learned and Actions Taken in the U.S. Following the Fukushima Accident”.
 
4. Dr. Wei-Wu Chao (Taiwan Atomic Energy Council Representative in DC, Deputy Director of Science & Technology Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the US), Speech Title:  “Status of Nuclear Power Program in Taiwan” .

Seminar: Energy Creation and Carbon Reduction Initiatives by Taiwan's Industries and Researchers PDF Print E-mail

TASTA and NATPA-Baltimore&Washington DC will co-sponsor a member dinner gathering and a special seminar event at Hunan Palace Restaurant on May 23 (Wednesday), 6:30-9:00pm.

 
Dr. Der-Ray Huang (黃得瑞博士) will be meeting with TASTA members and will present a talk entitles "Energy Creation and Carbon Reduction Initiatives by Taiwan's Industries and Researchers".

Dr. Huang is currently a Distinguished Professor in Department of Electro-Optical Engineering at National Dong-Hwa University, Taiwan. Before joining National Dong Hwa University, Dr. Huang had served as leadership positions in many academic and industrial institutions, including ITRI and Hsin-Chu Science Park. We have first learned to predict typhoons. Can we now predict the floods that they bring? We are very pleased to announce the seminar by Dr. Vincent Chintu Lai on the "Real-time Flood Forecasting".  The seminar is jointly sponsored by TCC, TASTA and NATPA. Dr. Lai is a Scientist Emeritus at U.S. Geological Survey and Visiting Professor and Senior Research Fellow in Hydrotech Research Institute of NTU. 北美洲臺灣人教授協會巴爾的摩-華府分會 (NATPA Baltimore/DC Chapter) 華府台灣產業科技協會(TASTA) 將於 (星期六) 舉辦2011春季聯合研討會。時間是午一點三十分至六點,地點是台灣駐美代表處文化中心 (901 Wind River LaneGaithersburgMD 20878)

至下午點半是本次會議的第階段,由華府台灣產業科技協會北美臺灣人教授協會巴爾的摩-華府分會共同主持2011春季研討會本次研討會主題是「現代精神醫學與心理學:理論、案例與臨床治療 (The Modern Psychiatrics and Physiology: theoretical model, practical example and clinical therapy)  
 
教授協會巴爾的摩-華府分會華府台灣產業科技協會共邀請了四位分別來自台灣及美國的精神醫學及心理學專家與會。四位專家學者將分別以精神醫學及心理學的角度,探討與現代人有切身關係的主題。演說內容十分廣泛:包含現今高度競爭及壓力下常見的精神性疾病,疏離社會下的青少年問題,以及東西方宗教哲學、心靈學在心理咨詢及臨床醫學上之應用。內容精彩可期,歡迎各界踴躍參加與會。
