The purposes of the Association are: (1) To promote science and technology research and developments in Taiwan and the United States; (2) To sponsor science and technology researches and education in Taiwan and the United States; (3) To further the general welfare of the science and technology communities in Taiwan and the United States; and (4) To promote educational and cultural contacts between Taiwan and the United States.

TASTA, a civil and non-profit organization, was founded in May 2002 by a group of dedicated Taiwanese American professionals in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. The main mission is to promote close cooperation between Americans and the people in Taiwan, especially in D.C. metropolitan region, in science, technology and industry fields via sponsoring and supporting activities in education, research, communication and networking. Currently we have more than 40 members, most of them with advanced degrees in sciences and engineering fields and we are also associated with the U.S.-Taiwan Business Council.
